Suzie Schwartz has long been a champion for military spouses and families, working tirelessly to support them in achieving their goals by promoting selflessness, teamwork and a special sense of military community. She supports and is active in numerous military philanthropies and assistance programs.
After graduating from the University of Arkansas, Suzie began her professional career as a Special Education teacher. This experience affirmed her belief in the critical importance of education. She is a passionate supporter of the Military Child Education Coalition, focused of the challenges which face highly mobile military school-age children.
While at Scott Air Force Base, IL, she worked with the Fisher House Foundation to establish a comfort home for the Veterans Administration Hospital in St. Louis, and more recently was instrumental in the establishment of another Fisher House facility at Dover Air Force Base, DE. These homes, both now in full operation, provide family members with a comfortable and supportive place to stay while supporting a hospitalized family member or, in the case of the home at Dover, the unanticipated loss of a loved one.
Suzie has served as an Air Force Aid Society board member and performed key roles on the Air Force Charity Ball Committee. Suzie also actively participated in the White House Joining Forces initiative with a purpose to mobilize all sectors of American society to support the military community. She continues to support Sesame Workshop for military families, Operation Homefront, the Armed Services YMCA and the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors.
She is a current member of the Fisher House Foundation National Board of Directors and serves on the Board of Advisors of the National Military Family Association.
Suzie is the spouse of former Air Force Chief of Staff, General (retired) Norty Schwartz. She now serves as the Vice President for Military Spouse Programs for Victory Media, the publisher of Military Spouse Magazine.
