Maria McConville hails from Rocky River, Ohio and received a direct commission in to the Army upon graduation from college. She is a Registered Dietitian and a Fitness Trainer currently working as a Senior Nutrition Health Educator with the Henry Jackson Foundation in support of the Consortium of Health and Military Science. She owns and operates the MMcConville Consulting, LLC where she coaches clients on nutrition, fitness, purposeful living, energy management, and living life with authenticity. Maria is a Senior Advisor for the D’Aniello Institute for Veterans and Military Families. She is also a facilitator at the National Defense University’s CAPSTONE course for spouses of newly selected flag and general officers.
Maria has been a volunteer both professionally and personally holding several Executive Committee positions for the Nutrition Entrepreneurs Dietetic Practice Group and advising the industry’s most inspiring dietitians. She is an accomplished public speaker, a venue where her passion for wellness comes to life.
In her capacity as a U.S. Army Spouse, Maria has served as an advisor to many Army organizations. Most notably, she is the visionary behind the Spouse Master Resilience Training program and spearheaded the pilot program which continues as an active and thriving model program throughout the Army. She volunteers tirelessly advocating for Spouse employment, reciprocity of licensure, and telework positions. As a mentor to hundreds of Military spouses, Maria encourages them to find balance in their unique lifestyle through a life driven by purpose and passion. In recognition of her outstanding contributions, Maria was awarded the Secretary of Defense Medal for Outstanding Public Service.
Maria holds a Bachelors degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Miami University and a Masters degree in Public and Community Health from Austin Peay State University. Maria completed her dietetic internship at Brooke Army Medical Center and served in both the Active and Reserve Army. While on active duty, Maria met and married her husband GEN (R) Jim McConville. She is very proud of their three adult children and a son-in-law who all serve in the Active Army. She finds peace, enlightenment, and joy walking on the beach at their home in Watersound, Florida.
