Wilson, Nancy - USAF

Nancy met her husband Steve at Texas A&M University where she earned a degree in Business Management. They married after Steve completed Pilot Training and embarked on an exciting 39+ year Air Force career involving 23 moves and 4 combat deployments. Nancy pursued a career in banking and insurance until she left the workforce when their son Sterling was born. Sterling attended 8 schools including 3 during his high school years and is now happily settled in Plano, TX with his wife Tessa and two grand dogs.

Over the course of Steve’s Air Force career Nancy filled her volunteer time with school and sports activities as well as spouse clubs and military support organizations. Air Force Support Groups became a place to build connections (family) and communication between individuals and organizations with emphasis on Key Spouse Programs, Military Student challenges and Air Force Base/Civilian interactions. One of Nancy’s most rewarding interests was bringing the Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC) to the attention of local communities and Air Force families in order to leverage their knowledge and expertise in helping military children thrive. During Steve’s last assignment as Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force Nancy had the opportunity to serve as a Board Member for MCEC, a Military Spouse Liaison with Easter Seals, USO and TAPS, and as a member of the Air Force Arlington Committee.

Upon Steve’s retirement in November 2020 the Wilsons moved to Canyon Lake, Texas to be close to family. Nancy currently divides her time between caring for parents, gardening, traveling, reading and paddleboarding on the lake.
