George Foresman is employed as a Senior Fellow for the National Defense University in support of the Pinnacle, Capstone, and Keystone programs.

Hon. George Foresman is a senior advisor on national security at the University of Virginia. He has over three decades of leadership experience in government and business, with expertise across strategy development, policy, and the operation of complex organizations.

Foresman works with the Capstone and Pinnacle professional military education programs for general/flag officers and Senior Executive Service. Since 2010 he has helped to guide the development of over 2,500 civilian and military senior executives across several hundred organizations.

His experience includes 12 top leadership roles and the design/build of seven high-profile public and private organizations from scratch. His bi-partisan service includes Senate confirmation to top state and federal national security cabinet roles, where among other responsibilities he led the creation of the National Response Framework.

George continues to help advance America’s comprehensive approach to managing contingencies. He guides and facilitates whole of government and multi-national wargames for the defense department and inter-agency, including the US Space Force sponsored Schriever (space) series.

At UVA, Foresman serves as the Executive Director of the National Security Policy Center at the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy. He also counsels business and government leaders on a range of strategy, policy, operating, financial, and technology issues. He is member of numerous corporate and non-profit Boards, to include serving as a Trustee of the General George C. Marshall Foundation.

George Foresman is a graduate of the Virginia Military Institute and the Virginia Executive Institute. George and his wife Gail live near Charlottesville Virginia. They are the proud parents of two college students.
