Lieutenant Colonel Gabbard is currently Deputy Director, CAPSTONE, National Defense University. He has held two commands.  As the Peterson-Schriever Garrison Comptroller he led 340 Comptroller Squadron and Wing Staff Agency members facilitating space and cyber space operations operating at over 14 operation locations with an annual budget of $155M driving $1.3B in economic impact.  As the Pope Army Airfield Comptroller, he led 27 military and civilian personnel responsible for input and oversight of payroll services to approximately 2,600 military personnel and 100 civilian employees and managed $101M directly impacting the Global Response Force.

Prior to his command assignments he was the Legislative Liaison Team Chief for the Air Combat Command Commander’s Action Group. As a member of the ACC Commander’s Action Group, he provided direct staff support to COMACC, preparing briefings, research and analysis to aid ACC leadership in articulating positions on key issues. His efforts supported more than 1,300 aircraft, 32 wings, 14 bases and nearly 170 operating locations worldwide with 98,000 active duty and civilian personnel.

Lieutenant Colonel Gabbard earned his commission from the United States Air Force Academy in 2006. He has deployed in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM, ENDURING FREEDOM, and RESOLUTE SUPPORT. Additionally, while serving with NATO his efforts supported Operation UNIFIED PROTECTOR, and various missions in Iraq, Sarajevo, and Kosovo.
