Jean W. Ellis is from Baltimore, Maryland. She graduated from Morgan State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree in counseling from Long Island University.
Mrs Ellis is a member of several professional organizations and has received recognition for her outstanding professional and volunteer service. Living in Germany, Korea, Hawaii, Washington, DC and seven installations in the continental United States has provided an opportunity to serve and support military Families and Soldiers. She has worked as a volunteer with the American Red Cross, Army Community Services, Post Chapel, Spouse/Wives Clubs, DoD schools, Girl Scouts, and other activities that provide community support. She has also served as trainer/facilitator for workshops and conferences focusing on Family issues.
Mrs Ellis began her federal career at West Point, New York in 1976. She has served in a variety of civil service positions. She is currently the Equal Employment Opportunity Manager, South Atlantic Division (SAD), United States Army Corps of Engineers. In her position, she advises the Commander on Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and provides EEO support and services to Headquarters SAD and its five subordinate Districts.
Mrs Ellis is married to General (RET) Larry R. Ellis and has been the wife of a Soldier since August 1969. She and her husband have two adult daughters, Lieutenant Colonel Deborah Ellis and Renée Ellis.
